EDFix Call #12: Greening Medium-Duty Trucks

Medium-duty trucks – those bigger than personal vehicles and smaller than tractor-trailers – are the workhorses of the American economy. They deliver food and beverages to restaurants and convenience stores, drop off packages at homes and offices, serve as mobile workshops for all types of technicians, and perform thousands of other daily tasks. They also use a lot of fuel – over 8 billion gallons a year.

Our next EDFix Conference Call tackles the topic of how to reduce green house gas emissions from these vehicles and the tasks they are involved with. We'll discuss what can be done by improving existing vehicles, moving to more efficient vehicles and changing behavior, including both logistics and driving. (Our recent white paper, "Greenhouse Gas Management for Medium-Duty Truck Fleets" [PDF] provides useful background for this call.)

I will be discussing this topic with EDFix host Jerry Michalski and those of you who join us on Monday, May 10 at noon ET (9am PT).
